HBCU Outreach

One of the best parts of working in the DC area has been my ability to participate, create, and host various events for local HBCU students to visit the DC FJORD studio and learn more about design roles and how it intersects the world of government contracting.
Howard University Class Visit

Last semester, I was asked to lead a site visit for Howard University's, Intro to Human-Computer Interaction course. During this visit I covered many topics with the students including:

  • How FJORD utilizes Design Thinking

  • The important rules to follow when doing government consulting

  • 508 Compliance Rules

  • Best practices for hosting design workshops

  • USA federal design system

HBCU Visiting Day

As a member of my studio's inclusion and diversity group, we hosted a half day event for underrepresented undergraduate students. We designed it to be an informal gathering meant to expose students to the work we do at FJORD and potential career opportunities for them in the future. I had the pleasure of leading a tour around the studio as well as talking about the interaction design practice and work I have been able to do.
